K-9 Unit finds suspect after Lakeshore crash

The Ontario Provincial Police credit Max the police dog for helping them find a suspect in hiding after a crash in Lakeshore.

Officers arrived at the scene of a crash on County Road 42 and Manning Road around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday after an eastbound vehicle crossed the centre line, just missed an oncoming car, went into a ditch and rolled over.

Fortunately, the driver and a passenger were not hurt, but a witness to the crash spotted them running from the scene just before the police arrived.

The OPP brought in Max and his handler who eventually found the two hiding in a ditch two kilometres away.

Now the driver is charged with failing to report a collision.
