Investigators say a house fire in Windsor caused around $10,000 in damage.
Windsor Fire and Rescue crews arrived at a home on Highland Avenue near Logan Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The scene is about two blocks away from Catholic Central High School. Heavy smoke was seen pouring from the house, and multiple fire vehicles were on hand to assist.
The incident took place during the time students at CCHS were on their lunch breaks. Students were seen milling around near the scene.
The fire was declared under control within one hour, then declared out shortly before noon. Windsor Fire and Rescue said the occupants were not home at the time and there were no injuries.
A fire investigator spent several hours at the home Thursday determining place of origin and estimating damage. Windsor Fire said the cause was undetermined but the fire began on a shelving unit in the basement.
