To celebrate Canada's 152nd birthday, many Windsor-Essex points of interest will be closed or on shortened hours Monday.
July 1 is a statutory holiday, which means all federal government offices and services will be closed. There will be no Canada Post delivery. Service Ontario offices are closed Monday along with all city and town halls. Residents can still purchase licence plate renewals and perform selected transactions online.
All Beer Store and LCBO outlets will be closed on Canada Day, along with all banks and financial institutions. Regular hours for all of them will resume on Tuesday.
All Windsor Public Library and Essex County Library branches will be closed Monday. Regular summer hours resume for both on Tuesday.
Devonshire Mall in Windsor will be open Canada Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tecumseh Mall will be open noon to 5 p.m. Windsor Crossing Outlets in LaSalle will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Many big-box stores, grocery stores and other retail outlets will either be closed or on shortened hours. Be sure to call ahead to avoid disappointment.
The 311 call centre will be closed on Monday, but the 211 call centre will be operating 24 hours a day as usual.
Residential garbage collection in Windsor will not take place Monday and will be delayed one day. Night commercial collection will take place as usual. The public garbage and household chemical waste drop-off depot at Central Ave. and E.C. Row will be closed.
There will be no parking enforcement in Windsor on Monday, and all metered parking will be free. All parking enforcement offices are closed, but payments can still be made online.
All community centres, customer-care centres and arenas in the city of Windsor will be closed on Canada Day with the exception of previously-scheduled rentals.
All indoor pools in Windsor will also be closed with the exception of the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre, which will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for adult swim and open fit lanes. The WIATC fitness centre will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. All outdoor pools in Windsor will be open from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Adventure Bay Family Water Park is on regular summer hours and will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through the summer.
The Chimczuk Museum and Francois Baby House in Windsor are closed Monday, their normal day off.
Transit Windsor buses will run their Sunday and holiday schedule on Canada Day, but the tunnel bus to Detroit will operate as usual.
