UPDATE: Police searching for suspect after stabbing in Windsor

One person is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in Windsor.

Windsor police said it happened on Lincoln Road near Niagara Street at around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police should have more details on Thursday, but a neighbour, who prefers to remain anonymous, tells Blackburn News that a woman in her 60s who lives next door was stabbed while in the backyard of a home at 876 Lincoln Rd.

She said the victim's daughter and grandson are distraught.

"I saw the lady's daughter, the 30-year-old woman came out and she told us oh, my mother just got stabbed. She didn't really say much about it, she just told us she was going to the hospital to visit her," the neighbour said.

She said it’s scary because she has young children in the house.

"That's horrible, that's insane honestly and it scary to see that happening in our neighbourhood. I have kids in the house and everything and I don't like what's going on," she added.

She said police told her that a man randomly stabbed the victim and she doesn't feel safe anymore.

"Honestly, it's not the first time it has happened. I've had someone break our car window once over here. So, I know how it is but I didn't know it was that extreme where there are stabbings going on," the neighbour said.

Windsor police have confirmed the stabbing victim is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officers are searching for a suspect but don’t have a motive.
