Parents charged in the death of an infant

The death of an infant has resulted in second-degree murder charges.

Investigators said one of the infants, who was brought into a Windsor hospital on June 8, passed away Tuesday at an out-of-town hospital. Both parents, who have already been charged with aggravated assault and assault, now face an upgraded homicide charge as well.

Constable Talya Natyshak said two children were brought to a Windsor hospital with injuries. Hospital staff called Windsor police who determined that the injuries to both infants were allegedly caused by the parents. One of the children was admitted with non-life threatening injuries, while the other was sent to an out-of-town hospital with more grave injuries.

To protect the identity of the children, Windsor police are not releasing the names of the parents at this time, said Natyshak.

Anyone with information on this ongoing case is urged to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700 ext. 4830, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
