Multiple injuries after vehicle hits Tecumseh Beer Store

Five people have been injured after a vehicle slammed into a local Beer Store.

Tecumseh Fire and Rescue said via Twitter that a vehicle crashed into a building at Tecumseh Road East between Shawnee Road and Poisson Street in the downtown area around 2:30 p.m. Monday. A check of the address provided by Tecumseh Fire confirmed a match with the Tecumseh Beer Store location.

At least one person has required extrication from the vehicle, according to fire officials. Essex-Windsor EMS transported five people from the scene but Ontario Provincial Police said the injuries are not life-threatening.

Access to Tecumseh Road East from Shawnee Road is blocked and drivers are urged to avoid the area.
