The Greater Essex County District School Board is looking for the community to help name two new schools.
Construction of the new schools on Judy Recker Crescent just off Laurier Parkway in LaSalle and on Mercer Street at Erie Street in Windsor will begin soon and the school board is inviting the public to participate in two brief surveys.
Both new schools will be open in the 2020-2021 school year.
Buildings or facilities may not be named or renamed after current board members or employees, and names must be distinctive and appropriate with an emphasis on, but not limited to, local historical events or persons of local importance, geography, culture or traditions of the community.
The committee will hold a minimum of two meetings which will be open to the public.
"The information collected will assist the school naming committees which will be formed to suggest names to the Board of Trustees for their approval," said Scott Scantlebury, a public relations officer with the school board.
Members of the Giles Campus French Immersion Public School and Prince Andrew Public School communities are encouraged to participate along with anyone in the area with an interest in public education.
