The community is being asked to help the family of a Harrow man who died suddenly in an accident at the Windsor Essex Therapeutic Riding Association last week.
Alex Durham was 27. He left behind his son, Oliver, Sarah his wife, and their unborn baby.
Durham was baling hay at the association when he became pinned by a piece of equipment. He died later in the hospital.
Initially, the Ministry of Labour was called, but the investigation was halted. It said since Durham was a contractor and not an employee of WETRA, it had no jurisdiction to probe the accident.
A GoFundMe campaign has collected just under $8,500 in two days. It has a goal of $50,000.
"Sarah and the family are now in the position of paying for the funeral costs and after-life expenses," read the GoFundMe page. "Together, we can make a significant impact for the Durham family. Alex worked each and every day with a goal to make sure he could give his family a better life. With your help, we can make sure that his dream will stay alive."
