Windsor police make quick arrest after theft from mayor's SUV

Windsor police have arrested a man in connection with a break-in at the mayor's house.

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens tweeted out surveillance video taken at his home on Wednesday afternoon after a man broke into his white SUV in his south Windsor driveway just after 3 a.m. on the same day. The man rummaged through the mayor's SUV and ran away with what's appears to be a large white ALDO bag with something in it.

Police said a 32-year-old man from Windsor was identified and arrested on Friday. The suspect is charged with theft under $5,000.

His name has not been released.

"A special thanks to the Windsor Police Service for notifying me today that an arrest was made in this case," Mayor Dilkens tweeted out on Tuesday. "Great work!"

Dilkens is also the chair of the Windsor Police Services Board and a former Windsor police auxiliary member.

He is reminding people to lock their vehicles at night.
