Good Samaritan prevents tragedy in Kingsville

A truck driver carrying a load of steel has been charged with drunk driving in Kingsville.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said an alert driver called police after witnessing the suspect drive erratically on County Road 23 Tuesday afternoon.

"The vehicle was loaded with steel and was being driven at varying speeds and failing to stay within its lane," the OPP said in a news release issued Thursday afternoon.

Police added the witness continued to follow the tractor trailer while updating police and the truck was stopped on County Road 29 where the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested.

Cornelius Wall, 47, of Simcoe, is charged with impaired driving by alcohol.

"The OPP thank those motorists who not only recognize erratic driving behaviour but take the time to contact police to assist in removing dangerous drivers from our roadways," police added.
