Drivers should expect delays in south Windsor for the next few months as the city starts work on the section of road known to some locally as the Dougall "death trap."
Southbound Dougall will be reduced to one lane between Ouellette Place and South Cameron starting Monday as part of the Dougall Avenue CN Rail underpass and trail project. The access points to and from Dougall Avenue at Ouellette Place will also be closed during construction.
Traffic and cycling flow have long been an issue for the narrow section of road at the Dougall Avenue overpass as well as a topic of discussion for council for the past several years.
The project will help eliminate safety concerns by installing a separate underpass and trail for pedestrians and cyclists to use instead of having them share the roadway with vehicles.
Construction is expected to be completed in late November.
