An apartment building fire in Tecumseh is being blamed on some electrical work going awry.
Tecumseh Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze broke out in a third-floor hallway in a building on Tecumseh Road and Southfield Drive just after 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
Tecumseh Fire Prevention Officer Bob Hamilton said a flash fire burned one worker on the hands and another in the face while they were installing smart meters. The worker with hand burns was sent to the hospital while the worker who received burns to the face was treated at the scene.
Hamilton added one elderly resident was sent to the hospital as a precaution. Other elderly residents complaining of dizziness and shortness of breath were checked by paramedics at the scene.
A damage estimate has not been released at this time.
