The Special Investigation Unit has determined there are no grounds for charges in a police-involved shooting in September 2018.
On September 16, 2018, Windsor police were called to a home on Bonita Street for a domestic dispute. When the officers arrived on the scene a man was sitting on his deck with a bat and a gun.
According to the SIU report, the man pointed the long gun in the direction of the responding officers. Both officers fired their weapons and the man was shot twice in the chest.
Interim Director of the Special Investigations Unit Joseph Martino said the case was investigated and it was determined there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against any of the officers.
"I accept that the officers reasonably apprehended an imminent and lethal threat of force and acted reasonably to protect themselves by resorting to lethal force of their own," Martino wrote in his report.
The case against the Windsor police officers is now closed.
