OPP seek tips after victim struck by ATV during confrontation

The Ontario Provincial Police hope someone has information that can lead to an arrest in a vicious assault on a Leamington farm.

The victim remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after the assault on September 21.

It happened on a farm on Mersea Road 5 between Bruner Road and Highway 77.

Police say around 11:30 p.m. that evening; the victim went outside to confront a group of ATV drivers trespassing on his property. There were between four and six men between the ages of 25 and 40, none of them wearing helmets. One was riding a mini-bike style vehicle.

One driver, on an ATV Outlander, struck the victim.

Shortly after the incident, the group left, but police believe one of the suspects was involved in a crash with a vehicle west of the farm.

Police want to talk to any of the ATV riders or any witnesses to the incident. The OPP can be reached at 519-326-2544, or 1-888-310-1122. Any caller who wants to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave their message online at www.catchcrooks.com.
