Business as usual Wednesday for the GECDSB

Despite another one-day strike taking place across Ontario, one local board will hold classes on Wednesday.

Classes will meet as usual at the Greater Essex County District School Board, and as of Tuesday night, all buses are set to run as well.

Wednesday marks another one-day strike by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF), the second during contract negotiations with the Ontario government. However, unlike the strike that took place provincewide on December 4, this one affects select boards only. Those boards are as follows.

  • Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board
  • Grand Erie District School Board
  • Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board
  • Near North District School Board
  • Rainy River District School Board
  • Simcoe County District School Board
  • Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board
  • Toronto District School Board
  • Trillium Lakelands District School Board
The OSSTF has been embroiled in contract talks with the Ford government. Members have also been engaging in work-to-rule.

It will also be business as usual at the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board.

The official GECDSB website has up-to-date information on how contract talks affect school operations.
