St. Clair College donates $28K to Goodfellows

The Windsor Goodfellows are handing out over 3,300 Christmas baskets this year thanks to donations through its annual newspaper drive.

The campaign got a huge boost this year from St. Clair College and the students in the Protection Security and Investigations/Police Foundations Society and the Border Service Society. The student groups raised $14,300 for the newspaper drive and the college matched the donation for a total donation of $28,600.

"People look for our paper sales to happen, they know that Christmas is coming around, and it's because of them. people like you, that we've been able to reach 110 years of community service," said Windsor Goodfellows President Gilbert Barichello.

Over 3,300 individuals and families registered for Christmas baskets this year. That's up from 2,800 in 2018.

"We've had a lot of new people who have not been here before so the need is there and we're there to assist them and help. [These donations are] what enables us to perform and give the quality of the food that we give," said Barichello.

The Goodfellows are starting to hand out their holiday baskets this week. Registration for the baskets is closed.
