The MP for Windsor-Tecumseh has a new role in the Liberal government.
Irek Kusmierczyk has been named the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability. He will be working directly with Minister Carla Qualtrough, the MP from Delta, British Columbia.
"To make sure that all Canadians, from all backgrounds, have the skills that they require and the training that they require that they can enter the workforce and contribute to making our country strong, so that's part of the focus of this ministry," said Kusmierczyk.
Kusmierczyk said he is honoured and excited to take on this role because it is a critical portfolio for day-to-day life in the country.
"Making sure that we work with industry, with our unions, with our stakeholders to make sure that workers today and future workers, our young people, are prepared for a 21st-century economy," said Kusmierczyk.
As parliamentary secretary, Kusmierczyk will assist the minister in the House of Commons and with department-related duties.
