Changes at Windsor Airport, Tunnel management

The city of Windsor has announced some adjustments to the management structure at two transportation entities.

The role of the chief executive officer at both Windsor Airport and the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel Corporation is being split, according to a release issued Friday by Mayor Drew Dilkens' office.

The airport board has appointed Mark W. Galvin as the new CEO of Your Quick Gateway (YQG) Inc. Current CEO Carolyn Brown will focus on those duties for the tunnel corporation and Windsor Detroit Border Link Limited.

Galvin will start at YQG on January 13. Brown had led both the airport and tunnel corporation since 2014.

"Mark’s extensive experience managing international transportation, combined with his vast knowledge of the needs and challenges of our region, make him uniquely qualified to run the operations of the airport," said Dilkens, who as mayor is also chair of both boards. "I am confident Mark’s strong leadership will be an asset as we focus on expanding the economic development opportunities at the airport."

Galvin had previously served as general manager of the tunnel corporation, and was responsible for all day-to-day operations for the Canadian side of the border crossing, and was also director of plazas for the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority.

Most recently, Galvin worked as director of planning, development and legislative services for the Town of Amherstburg. There, he managed the by-law and enforcement departments and oversaw all budgetary, HR and subject matter issues related to the function of those departments. He was also in-house counsel.
