Around 75 students from Vincent Massey Secondary School skipped their lunch period to take part in the global climate strike.
They chanted "you will die of old age, we will die of climate change" to encourage leaders and corporations to change their policies and pay attention to environmental concerns. They were among activists from around the world holding climate strikes Friday.
"This isn't just about saving trees, about saving animals, although that's a big deal. The biggest deal is that there will be human loss. There will be displacement and there will be refugees. There will be people who are starving. There will be famine, there will be drought and that is human life lost," said Grade 12 student Georgia Berg.
Berg says she is encouraging those who can vote in the upcoming election to really take a look at policies surrounding the environment.
Activists were also taking part in the global climate strike at Charles Clark Square in downtown Windsor Friday afternoon.
