The University of Windsor faculty, staff and students continue to mourn the loss of five members of its student and research community.
Zahra Naghibi and spouse Mohammad Abaspour Ghadi, Samira Bashiri and spouse Hamidreza Setareh Kokab, and Pedram Jadidi are among 176 people lost on Ukrainian International Airlines' Flight PS752.
"These were five extraordinary individuals," said university President Robert Gordon. "They were making valuable contributions to their disciplines, they were supporting the broader opportunities of our institution but also they were important people within our community."
A space has been created in the engineering building for students and staff to mourn, reflect and seek emotional support. Each of the victims' pictures has been put up in the room and students are coming to pay their respects.
"People are really struggling, these were colleagues that they saw before the holidays, friends that they spent an incredible amount of time with on a daily basis," said Gordon.
The University of Windsor is holding a memorial service for the victims on Friday at 1 p.m. It will be held in Alumni Auditorium and will also be live-streamed for those who cannot attend the service.
