Impaired driving charges laid after car lands on roof in Little River

A young Windsor man is facing impaired driving charges after the car he was driving flipped over a bridge and landed in Little River.

Around 1 a.m. Saturday, Windsor police officers first saw the car speeding east on Wyandotte Street East around Rholaine Drive. They then witnessed the vehicle lose control as it approached the intersection of Riverdale Avenue near the bridge. The car landed on its roof on the eastern bank of Little River.

The 20-year-old driver was arrested on the scene and taken to hospital with unknown injuries. Police later determined the injuries were life-threatening.

An adult male passenger was trapped inside the car and had to be helped out of the driver's side window. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver is facing a charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
