When public elementary school teachers across Windsor-Essex hit the picket line Wednesday, it will not just be public elementary schools that close.
The Greater Essex County District School Board said some EarlyON Child and Family Centres across the region will close too.
In the city of Windsor, centres at Dougall, General Brock, Talbot Trail, and Princess Elizabeth Public Schools will close.
In the county, Margaret D. Bennie will close in Leamington, along with Harrow Public School, Lakeshore Discovery in Lakeshore, and Amherstburg Public School.
Child Care Centres located within public schools within the Greater Essex County District School Board system will stay open.
The City of Windsor is again offering day camps for parents who need child care for their children during the one-day strike. Children aged four and up can be registered for day camps at Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex on Pulford Street, and the Optimist Community Centre on Ypres Avenue.
The fee per child for the day is $32, and children can be dropped off as early as 7:30 a.m. and picked up as late as 5:30 p.m. Registration is available at any community centre in the city Tuesday, and on Wednesday at the day camps.
Should the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario and the provincial government reach a tentative deal by midnight, parents will be refunded.
Catholic schools across Windsor-Essex will remain open Wednesday. The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association represents teachers at those schools.
Secondary schools will also remain open.
ETFO is also planning two more one-day strikes next week, on Thursday and Friday.
The City of Windsor has not said if it will hold day camps on those days, but it has each day schools, in the public and the Catholic system, have been impacted by teachers' job action so far.
