Windsor storefronts damaged in two-vehicle crash

Investigators are trying to determine how a vehicle ended up hitting a building in Windsor Tuesday morning.

Windsor police said it happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Wyandotte Street East at Pillette Road. Few details have been released but police said two vehicles collided at the intersection, sending one of them into a building just off the southwest corner of the intersection.

Two storefronts had some damage, with the door to one of them almost completely knocked in.

Windsor Fire and Rescue and Essex-Windsor EMS also attended the scene, but there were no immediate reports of serious injuries.

Eastbound traffic on Wyandotte Street East backed up for a few blocks and was diverted to Arthur Road. Westbound traffic was down to one lane. The road has since completely reopened.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information who has not already spoken with police is asked to give Windsor police a call at (519) 255-6700.
