Architect chosen to design new CCHS in Windsor

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board now has an architect to design its new Catholic Central High School in Windsor.

+VG Architects, or the Ventin Group, of Brantford, was approved by board members Tuesday night.

"We're very excited that this firm will be leading the project," said Board Chair Fulvio Valentinis. "They're a reputable, well-established company that has a long history of taking novel and innovative approaches to the buildings they create."

School board trustees chose the firm from a list of seven architects that pre-qualified to bid on the project.

The same firm oversaw the drafting of the 50-year campus master plan at the University of Windsor. It also has experience designing schools for the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board, Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, and the Bluewater District School Board.

"They have some very fresh ideas for creating contemporary spaces and a solid reputation for completing projects on time and within budget," said Director of Education Terry Lyons.

The province has provided $33 million in funding for the project, which will be built on MacDougall Avenue, not far from the school's current site.

It is expected to open in September 2022.
