LaSalle opens Transportation Master Plan up for public comment

The Town of LaSalle now has a guiding document for creating a multi-modal transportation network.

Two public meetings garnered several suggestions on how the town could improve the way people move across town, including connecting Todd Lane to the Herb Gray Parkway Trail and the City of Windsor, reduce speeding on Sixth Concession, and address congestion on Morton Drive.

"The Transportation Master Plan will focus future planning and decision-making about transportation development and design," said Director of Public Works Peter Marra.

The plan includes a set of policies, goals, and recommendations to improve accessibility and improve the quality of life in LaSalle. It covers all modes of transportation, from walking to public transit to automobile travel.

A pilot project for Front Road will enhance it as a primary commercial corridor. It would reduce the lanes from four to three with a continuous left-hand turning lane, sidewalks on both sides of the road, and a separated bike lane. The project will come before the council at a later date.

The Transportation Master Plan will be reviewed for the next 30 days and can be found online. Written comments will need to be submitted by March 1 and will become part of the public record.
