No injuries in fire at Windsor's Central Stampings

A portion of Central Avenue in Windsor has been reopened following a fire at a factory.

Windsor Fire and Rescue crews were called to the Central Stampings plant shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday. When firefighters arrived on the scene, heavy smoke was reported.

The plant was evacuated and no injuries were reported. The fire was declared out within the hour, but there was still heavy smoke inside the building.

A section of Central Avenue between Somme Avenue and Grand Marais Road was closed in both directions to traffic. It has now been reopened.

Windsor fire investigators said the fire was accidental. Damage to the plant was minimal.
