Traffic blitz results in multiple tickets

The Windsor Police Service laid 87 enforcement actions Tuesday during a traffic blitz on the EC Row Expressway.

The blitz targeted aggressive driving during the afternoon commute.

Police said many of the drivers stopped were going 30 km/h over the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. Two drivers were charged with stunt driving for travelling 50 km/h or more over the speed limit.

Overall, police saw less traffic on the road than a normal afternoon commute. It's believed to be connected to the number of closures in the community caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Police said there were no impaired driving charges during the St. Patrick’s Day blitz.
