Eight charged in caught-on-tape assault

Windsor police have made more arrests in a bizarre incident Monday night that was caught on video.

Officers were called to a business on Tecumseh Road East near Central Avenue for a fight that had broken out. In a video shot of the incident and circulated on social media, a pickup truck was seen swerving around and intentionally hitting and injuring at least two people before driving away on the sidewalk.

Three people were treated for non-life threatening injuries, and police said Tuesday that two of them were arrested for their involvement in the incident.

According to Sergeant Andy Drouillard, a total of eight people have now been charged. They are facing charges that include aggravated assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, and leaving the scene.

The Major Crimes Division continues to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830, or submit a tip via Crime Stoppers.
