High water levels have resulted in the closure of the beach and marina in Belle River.
Public works crews from the town of Lakeshore placed barricades restricting access to the Belle River Marina, West Beach, and the access road leading to them. High winds and lake levels on Lake St. Clair resulted in waves overtopping the breakwalls, creating a potentially hazardous situation.
Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain said via Twitter Monday that the move was also necessary due to groups showing up there, in violation of the emergency orders issued by the province of Ontario.

The work to repair the breakwall was expected to be finished by Monday afternoon.
The town has also closed several roads in Lighthouse Cove due to flooding that has resulted in three to six-inch deep water on the roads. However, residents have told Blackburn News that the water levels are higher then six inches.

Barricades have been erected to permit only local traffic, as driving through water-covered roads can make flood water conditions more difficult for residents. Everyone is asked to avoid Lakeshore Park, Valentino Drive and Ross Beach.
Around 70 properties received sandbags from the Town Lakeshore over the weekend to protect their homes from flooding.
