K-9 officer sniffs out Lakeshore break-in suspect

A Windsor man is facing charges after allegedly trying to break into a business.

The Ontario Provincial Police said it happened shortly after midnight on Monday. Officers responded to an alarm at an auto dealership on County Road 42 in Lakeshore.

A man was seen by officers running away from the scene. The patrol officers contained the scene, and the OPP deployed its Emergency Response Team and K-9 Unit.

K-9 officer "Maximus" was able to locate a suspect at a nearby creek. The suspect suffered minor injuries that were inflicted by the dog during the arrest.

Charles Hetry, 45, is charged with break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, and possession of break-in instruments. The charges have not been proven in court.

The suspect will have a chance to respond at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 8.
