Police seek suspect in auto shop break-in

Windsor police are asking the public for help in identifying a suspect in a Tuesday morning burglary.

Police received a call about a break-and-enter at an auto repair shop on Eugenie Street near Howard Avenue. Officers arrived around 6:30 a.m. and found that one of the garage doors had been damaged.

Investigators soon determined that a burglary had taken place and a vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle, a red Dodge Charger, was driven through the garage door, causing the damage to the door and ripping off the car's spoiler.

The Charger was found by police at around 12:30 p.m. in the area of Wyandotte Street East and Marion Avenue.

The suspect may have been loitering in the area prior to the break-and-enter, according to Constable Talya Natyshak.

Images taken from surveillance camera footage, seen below, have been provided by police. The suspect is described as wearing a white hooded sweater, tan pants, black running shoes, and a green and black backpack.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw a red Charger with a missing spoiler being driven between 6:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Anyone with information should call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4350. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
