With heavy rain in the forecast, the Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for the region.
Forecasts indicate the region could receive up to 25-50 millimetres of rain by the early hours of Friday morning. With the high lake levels and heavy rain, some tributaries could swell and spill into low lying areas.
This flood watch specifically related to rainfall is in effect until 10 a.m. on Friday. Upon this watch expiring, a shoreline flood watch will remain in effect.
Water levels in Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair are currently around 20-30 centimetres above levels experienced in 2019.
