UPDATE: Tribute Flight postponed due to weather

A tribute flight to honour frontline and essential workers originally scheduled for Wednesday evening has been postponed due to weather.

"Inspiration Flight and Tribute will honour frontline and essential workers -- as well as Windsor-Essex citizens who have had to make sacrifices to protect one another," said a release from the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association.

The flight has been postponed until Thursday because the forecast is showing an increase in wind gust which is not safe for pilots at this time.

Several pilots belonging to the association, the Windsor Flying Club, and Journey Air plan to take off from Windsor International Airport at 6 p.m. Flying in a single file, they will pass over over Belle River, Essex, Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington, Kingsville, Amherstburg, Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, Downtown Windsor and Windsor Regional Hospital.

The entire flight should take about 90 minutes. If you are outside in Downtown Windsor and the east end of the city, around 7 p.m. should be able to see the flyover.

The "Inspiration Flight and Tribute" is also in honour of Captain Jenn Casey of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds who died Sunday in a crash in Kamloops B.C. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
