No injuries reported in Tecumseh drugstore fire

Fire officials in Tecumseh are investigating after a fire broke out at a pharmacy.

Tecumseh Fire and Rescue said it was called to the Shoppers Drug Mart on Manning Road and Tecumseh Road East around 5 p.m. Tuesday, where a small fire was discovered in the business' electrical room.

The store was evacuated of customers and employees and the fire was quickly put out. No injuries were reported.

A cause of the fire and a damage estimate have not yet been determined. Access to the store's parking lot was restricted.

Callers to the BlackburnNewsWindsor.com newsroom also reported a power outage in the area. It was not immediately clear if the drugstore incident was related, but Essex Power did confirm on its website that a pole fire resulted in an outage that covered much of the St. Clair Beach section Tuesday.
