If you own a pellet gun, Windsor police are urging you to be careful with how you show it off.
Officers were called Monday to an apartment building after someone called to complain about a possible firearm on the premises. Someone was seen pulling the gun from their pants and pointing it around a hallway where no one was standing.
Police did not disclose the location of the incident.
The person with the weapon opened the door of the building to officers and was quickly subdued. It was soon revealed that the weapon was a pellet gun.
Constable Talya Natyshak said officers confiscated the pellet gun and informed the person about the potential risks of showing it off in public, let alone flashing it in front of police who may believe it is a firearm. It was not disclosed if the gun owner was charged with an offence.
Police would like to use this incident to remind the public that even though pellet guns are legal, any improper, careless, or unsafe use of the pellet gun may lead to criminal charges and-or confiscation.
