WECHU reporting 14 new COVID-19 cases

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit is reporting an additional 14 cases of COVID-19 Tuesday.

Of the new cases, seven are linked to the agri-farm sector, six are community cases, and one is still under investigation.

The health unit continues to conduct inspections at businesses throughout the community.  All complaint calls are followed up with health inspectors, either by phone or in person.

"I think it's to be expected that as we open up, people are going to identify those that are not being in compliance because it is the responsibility for all of us," said health unit CEO Theresa Marentette.

Since July, the health unit has conducted 154 inspections regarding patio or mask infractions. No fines have been issued to date.

There are currently six workplaces experiencing outbreaks in the community.  There are five in the agricultural sector and one in the manufacturing industry. Two local long-term care facilities are also experiencing outbreaks at this time.
