Transit Windsor services increasing

Transit Windsor is ramping up service by adding routes and increasing bus frequency on popular routes.

The Central 3 West and South Windsor 7 routes have been added back into the service. More buses have been added to the Walkerville 8, Transway 1A and Dougal 6 routes.

Capacity on buses has increased with a mandatory mask policy however buses are still having to bypass riders due to capacity issues.

Officials say no additional services are expected until at least early September based on current public health guidelines and lack of funding. The Government of Canada announced an agreement to provide funding for municipalities and transit systems but specific allocations have not been determined.

Buses continue to operate free of charge as users are still asked to board at the back of the bus.

Current ridership is about 80 per cent below pre-pandemic levels.
