Gretzky renews call for inclusive pandemic pay

Windsor West MPP Lisa Gretzky is renewing the call for pandemic pay for all front line healthcare workers.

There are still many employees working in healthcare who did not make the list of eligible positions for pandemic pay.

"We have lab techs who aren't on the list, radiation technologists who aren't on the list, social workers that aren't on the list. The government really needs to take a really hard look at who these front line heroes are and make sure that the list includes all of them," said Gretzky.

Employees like Allison Hearn, an ambulation assistant has been denied pandemic pay. She worked exclusively for two months at the field hospital at St. Clair College.

"She was in direct contact with COVID positive patients, those were the only patients at the field hospital, and yet, the Ford government has decided that Allison is not worthy of receiving the pandemic pay top-up," said Gretzky.

The NDP party is also calling on the government to make pandemic pay retroactive to when the virus first his the province.
