WECHU reports two new COVID-19 cases

A week after the region entered Stage 3 of reopening the economy, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reporting just two new cases of COVID-19.

Included in the new cases is a close contact of a previously confirmed case and a healthcare worker.

"We are definitely happy to see that these numbers continue to be in the range where we can expect from a region of our size," said Windsor Essex Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed.

Despite the low numbers, Dr. Ahmed is urging people to continue taking precautions.

"We'd like to see people being still more vigilant as more and more people are interacting. The review of symptoms, taking all these precautions and getting tested is still the key," said Dr. Ahmed.

There are currently 89 known active cases in the community.
