Social circles of 10 still recommended

The medical officer of health for Windsor Essex is encouraging everyone to continue to maintain strict social circles of no more than 10 people.

"We are getting complaints about the physical distancing and the gathering size and some confusion when people are thinking about 10 verses 50," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed.

The Ministry of Health recommends strict social circles of 10 people. With these 10 people, physical distancing does not need to be maintained. Indoor meetings or gatherings can be up to 50 people, however, people are expected to wear masks and maintain two metres of space from others.

"Yes, you can still have more contacts. That's okay, but you have to have all those physical distancing measures in place to meet them or to say hello to them or to meet them in a gathering," said Dr. Ahmed.

On Tuesday morning, the Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported two new cases of COVID-19. One case is related to travel to Michigan and the other is still under investigation.

To date, 2,470 people in the community have tested positive for the virus, while 2292 people have recovered. The community has lost 72 people due to COVID-19. There are currently 74 active cases of COVID-19 in the community.
