UPDATE: Friday performances postponed until Sunday

Live music and aerial artists' performances in downtown Windsor scheduled for Friday night have been postponed due to weather.

Some downtown Windsor streets will close to vehicular traffic on Saturday so restaurants and bars can extend their patios. Some establishments will also have limited indoor seating, now that Windsor-Essex is in stage three of reopening its economy.

All DWBIA entertainment scheduled for Friday night will be rescheduled to Sunday. Live music is sponsored, in part, by the School of Creative Arts at the University of Windsor.

"Each weekend we do this, it gets more and more exciting," said Brian Yeomans, the chair of the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association. "If you haven't come down for one of the closed streets weekends yet, don't miss another one."

All downtown businesses will enforce physical distancing and masks.

The street closures are:

  • Ouellette Avenue from Wyandotte Street to Riverside Drive
  • University Avenue West between Pelissier Street and Freedom Way
  • Pelissier Street from University Avenue to Chatham Street
  • Maiden Lane West
  • WIFF Alley
Those streets will reopen Sunday, August 30 at midnight.
