If you want to get a test for COVID-19, the Windsor Regional Hospital will be swabbing people at the Sportsplex at St. Clair College on Thursday and Friday.
It plans to open a temporary assessment centre at the Sportsplex next Tuesday, but with the approval from Ontario Health, it is getting a jump start.
Testing is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday. The centre will close for the long Labour Day weekend and reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, September 8.
The temporary centre will remain open until the hospital can set up a more permanent Met Campus location.
The hours of operation at the Sportsplex are the same as the centre at Ouellette Campus, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays. On the weekend, it is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The assessment centre at the Ouellette Campus will be open over the weekend. The one at Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington is also operating seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Plans for the Met Campus were delayed by several weeks because the hospital could not find a trailer. Schools across the province need those.
So far, more than 30,000 people have been swabbed at the Ouellette Campus since it opened on March 16. Another 779 people were tested during a drive-thru blitz outside the Sportsplex on August 24 and 25.
