Kingsville names new chief administrative officer

The Town of Kingsville has named someone with extensive municipal experience as its new chief administrative officer.

John Norton, who most recently held the same position with the Township of Georgian Bluffs, will assume the CAO role in Kingsville on Tuesday.

"We're excited to have John join our municipality as CAO," said Mayor Nelson Santos in a media release. "He's a proven leader with a wealth of experience who, alongside council and staff, will help bring the vision, goals and objectives of our community to fruition."

Before he went to Georgian Bluffs, Norton worked with the municipality of Chatham-Kent for nine years, holding several positions, including general manager of community development.

The CAO is Kingsville's senior administrator responsible directly to the town council for ensuring effective day-to-day management of the municipality while creating a collaborative team environment by engaging with all members of the community.

"Kingsville is such an exciting place to live and work," said Norton in the media release. "I am looking forward to living in the community and working closely with Mayor Santos, council and the employees at the town."

Norton had worked as a lawyer in private practice before entering public service, concentrating on municipal law. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Taylor University College and the University of Alberta, a master's degree in human resource management from Trinity College, and a law degree from the University of Western Ontario.
