WECHU links more cases to community cluster

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has identified another six cases of COVID-19 linked to a community cluster reported last week.

"To see that spread in such a way is a clear indication of why we are recommending some of these measures that we recommend," said Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed. "When we are talking about these gatherings, whether it's indoor gatherings or outdoor gatherings, why it's important to still follow all of the public health measures."

Of the 37 confirmed cases linked to the cluster, 12 have been discharged and 25 are still self-isolating. Around 70 per cent of the cases linked to the community cluster involve people between the ages of 14 and 19.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported another five cases of COVID-19 in the community Wednesday. The new cases reported include three community-acquired cases and two close contacts of previously confirmed cases. There are 79 active cases in the community.
