Pair charged in Amherstburg shooting

Two youths have been charged in a shooting last week in Amherstburg.

Officers from the Windsor police's Amherstburg detachment around 4 a.m. September 8, to the area of Simcoe Street and Fryer Street. Two men were seen running away from a vehicle parked in a driveway.

The men were found walking along Simcoe Street and confronted by a citizen, according to police. Both men appeared to be holding firearms. One was then reportedly discharged, making a loud noise. The two men then ran from the area.

The first suspect was arrested Wednesday in Amherstburg, the second on Thursday in Windsor.

One is charged with theft under $5,000, assault with a weapon, and possession of a dangerous imitation weapon. The other is charged with assault, threats to use a weapon, and possession of a dangerous imitation weapon.

Neither suspect is being identified under the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act.
