OPP: Kittens were not thrown from vehicle

An animal cruelty complaint in Essex County has turned out to be a situation gone wrong for a couple of kittens.

Provincial police launched an investigation after someone reported that a kitten was thrown from a moving vehicle on Maidstone Avenue in Essex on September 3.

The kitten was taken to a nearby veterinarian but later died. A second kitten was also found in the same area but it had already died.

After releasing a picture of the suspected vehicle involved in the incident, police were able to identify and interview the driver.

OPP found that the kittens were not thrown from the vehicle. Instead, it's believed the kittens were in the vehicle's undercarriage and fell out while the vehicle was on the road.

As a result, the investigation has ended and provincial police are thanking the public for its help in the case.
