List of contacts being compiled after high school student contracts COVID-19

If you have a child who attends W.C Kennedy Collegiate Institute in Windsor, you might get a letter from the school about a case of COVID-19 there.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has confirmed a student at the high school has tested positive for it.

CEO Theresa Marentette said the health unit is working with the school to narrow down those who had close contact with the student, but she could not say how many would be affected.

"It'll be based on the size of the cohort," she said.

Marentette said because of scheduling at high schools, the size of the cohort would likely be smaller than those at elementary schools.

Meanwhile, a letter is posted on the school's website, saying those who have been exposed will be notified by the health unit.

"If you have not been contacted, you or your child (en) have not been identified as a close contact," it read.

The school remains open, and staff and students are asked to self-monitor daily for symptoms of COVID-19.
