An Essex man is facing charges after a dispute between neighbours turned ugly.
Officers with the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police were called to Tracey Crescent in Essex around 8 p.m. Sunday. It was reported a man had uttered threats, pointed a firearm at a neighbour, and fired the gun into the air.
OPP officers, the Essex County Emergency Response Team, and the K-9 unit contained the area. Neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution.
"The suspect was observed by police to exit and re-enter his residence numerous times at which point he was engaged by police and taken into custody," police said in a news release issued Tuesday. "The suspect was transported to an area hospital for the treatment of a minor dog bite wound obtained during the arrest."
Timothy Hebert, 58, is facing charges of assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, possession of a dangerous weapon, and failing to comply with an undertaking.
