Starting Sunday, Enwin customers can choose how they are billed for their electricity.
Residential and small business customers that normally pay time-of-use electricity prices can now choose to switch to tiered pricing.
Under time-of-use billing customers pay a different electricity rate depending on when the electricity is consumed. But with tiered rates customers pay one set rate for the electricity they consume up to a predetermined kilowatt-hour threshold each month, after that threshold the price increases.
Enwin says to help decide which pay structure is best for them customers should look at their current usage.
"We want to help our customers make the best possible decision about which rate option best suits their needs and circumstances," said ENWIN Director of Customer Service, Robert Spagnuolo. "We have a number of online resources and tools available to help our customers make an informed decision and our call centre staff are ready to answer any questions customers may have.”
The Ontario Energy Board has also released a calculator to assist in deciding what works best for you.
There is no deadline to make the switch. If you choose to switch to a tiered rate model you must complete this form. If customers do not complete the form bills will automatically be calculated using time-of-use pricing. Customers can choose to switch at any time and can also switch back if they determine it is not right for them.
