More COVID-19 cases linked to Windsor-area public schools

Three COVID-19 cases have been linked to two elementary schools with the Greater Essex County District School Board.

Two individuals in the Bellewood Public School community tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, three cohorts have been dismissed to monitor for symptoms.

The school board is working closely with the Windsor Essex County Health Unit to identify students and staff who may have had close contact with the individuals. If you have not been contacted by the health unit, your child has not been identified as a close contact and may continue to attend school.

An individual at Talbot Trail Public School has also tested positive for the virus. No cohorts were dismissed because the health unit determined there is no high-risk exposure to anyone else in the school.

Parents are asked to continue to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, dry cough, and difficulty breathing. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms should not attend school and contact their health care provider for further directions.

There have been seven cases of COVID-19 linked to the GECDSB since September. There have been no outbreaks linked to any of the cases.
